Make sure the needle is in the center of the cross of the collet
Use small plugs of hair. Rooting multiple smaller plugs in one hole rather than using one large plug helps avoid scalp splits and needle breakage
Use the regular needle in the reroot tool to pre-poke holes to make it easier to insert hair with the rerooting needle or to create new holes in the doll’s head
Keep the needle length at 1/2” or shorter to avoid bending the needle
Tighten the tool with pliers rather than by hand to make sure it’s extra secure
Wipe the needle and collet with rubbing alcohol or acetone to remove any traces of grease or oil that may cause the needle to slip
