ACETATE HAIR ORDERING PAGE
What
is Acetate, you may ask??
Acetate
is a textile that is made with deconstructed wood pulp,
which is known as cellulose. After the cellulose is reacted
with acids and other chemicals, acetate is produced.
Why
would you want to root your doll with acetate? Well, put
simply, it's beautiful stuff.
Acetate feels more "natural", more organic, and
less artificial than other synthetic hair types. Truly,
the best comparison that I can give you is that it feels
like the hair of a persian cat.
I
don't know of any dolls/toys that were ever factory rooted
with acetate hair, but that doesn't mean that there weren't
any, so if, up until now, you'd been searching for a particular
match for a particular doll, your search may be over. You
can't buy acetate doll hair anywhere but Dollyhair. This
acetate that I'm selling is pretty old stock... probably
15-20 years old or so. So, once it's gone, it may be gone
for good! I don't even know how to get ahold of the manufacturer,
or if they still exist, so TRULY, Dollyhair may be the one
and only place in the entire world where you can buy acetate
doll hair.
Acetate's
tensile strength is probably the weakest of all synthetic
doll hair types, so you don't want to apply too much tension
to it while you're rerooting your doll, or you can get a
little breakage. It's nothing to worry about, though, especially
if you're not a first-time rerooter. You can compare the
strength of one strand of acetate to the strength of one
human hair. It's pretty much the same. I wouldn't say that
acetate should only be reserved for very experienced rerooters,
but acetate is definitely not as strong as nylon!
I
know that you probably aren't familiar with acetate, so
here is a photo of a Barbie doll who I rooted with it in
the color "golden honey", so you can get an idea
of what to expect. It's very lovely hair, and I'm sure that
you'll love it:

Currently,
we are only selling our acetate hair in 38" format
hanks.
If
you're not sure how many 38" hanks you'll need for
your doll's head, click

The
best possible effort has been made to depict these

to view these colors correctly on your monitor, then
your monitor is probably calibrated correctly and
you will be able to view the doll hair colors accurately
